Coxwold's beautiful Village Hall, originally known as the Coxwold Institute, was built in 1926 on land leased from Newburgh Priory. It was extended in 1988. It serves as the community hub for the village, having seen many weddings, parties, meetings, society events and dinners over the years.
The Hall is on the edge of the village along the road leading to Byland. There is ample parking and public toilets.
The beamed Main Hall, which is about 14m long and 7m wide, is a light spacious area which can seat up to 100 people at tables. Discreet acoustic panels on the walls and ceiling ensures that the sound requirements of any event can be met. A hearing loop is also available. As well as outside public toilets, the Hall has its own male and female toilets and accessible/baby changing facilities.
Over the years the Hall has benefitted from several Lottery grants. These, together with various other grants, awards and donations, have enabled us to heat the hall more efficiently, add double glazing, acoustic panelling, modernise the kitchen and refurbish the ladies and disabled visitor cloakrooms.
We are very grateful for all the help we have received, without it none of these improvements would have been possible.
