Coxwold Village - Pastures and Moors

IMG 3456Simon Le Gassicke - Chair

Coxwold has been my home since 1997 but I worked overseas until 2011; since then I have been able to take a more active role in our community. I joined the Council in March 2013; am very keen to help Coxwold flourish as an open and fair community and help improve village strengths.

I was born and raised in Coxwold and have been on the Council for over 20 years. The relaxed ambience of Coxwold is close to my heart and being part of the Parish Council is one of the ways I can contribute to our small and spirited community.

I was born in the West Riding but spent most of my adult life in the northern part of the county.  After a forty year career I retired from the Civil Service and moved here, with my partner Geraldine, from Topcliffe in 2019.  We were attracted to Coxwold by the relative peace and quiet and, having now completed a full refurbishment of our home, I feel I have the time to contribute to this beautiful friendly village as a Parish Councillor.

After nine years as landlord at the Fauconberg Arms I am passionate about the village and community. In addition to helping the Parish Council with day to day "housekeeping" I would like to see the growth of community events involving music, theatre and much more.

Having lived and worked in West Yorkshire for most of my life I married in June 2018 and moved to be with my husband, already a resident in Coxwold, in early 2019.  It would be hard to find a more beautiful village and I feel privileged to wake up to this view every morning, plus love of gardening and the space to indulge it is the icing on the cake!  Although I am still working full-time I want to give back to the Village which made me so welcome, and feel that joining the Parish Council will enable me to do this.

We moved to Coxwold in 2011 and were made to feel very welcome by the  people in the village.  Becoming Acting Parish Clerk early the following year has allowed me to give a little back to the community in which we have chosen to make our home.
