Coxwold is 20 miles north of York. It lies in the beautiful North York Moors National Park, east of the A19 between Easingwold and Thirsk. The Village is one of the most perfect in Yorkshire, its honey-coloured stone houses lining the broad grass-banked street that climbs the hill to the 15C Church. We hope you enjoy your visit to this website and that it encourages you to make a real journey to our Village, where you will find a warm welcome from everyone who lives or works here.
As well as being a delightful place to visit, Coxwold has businesses, interest groups, societies and lots of enthusiasm! The businesses include cabinet makers, gardening services, and tea rooms: schools, dental and medical practices are within a few miles. The Village also has its own Bridge Club and Local History Society. The Church is of historic interest and importance, as well as being a fascinating place to walk around. You can find out more about all these by visiting their pages on this site.
Many visitors to Coxwold come to explore the area on foot or cycle. The North York Moors is one of England's finest wild open spaces and offers woodland, rivers, the coast and a unique expanse of heather moorland. The Cleveland Way passes through the area at Sutton Bank, from where unrivalled views of the Plain of York are seen.
To enjoy these delights at their best many visitors stay in Coxwold, either at the pub or in one of our cosy holiday cottages. Visit our Food & Accommodation pages to see some of what we offer, and look at the Leisure pages to see some of the Walks Around Coxwold.Twice a year Newburgh Priory hosts Plant Fairs, where local growers present wide ranges of plants on offer, including many not usually available through the usual routes. These events are always well attended.
The Village has a thriving Cinema Club - The LOFT - in the first floor of the Village Hall. Equipped with high quality AV systems, the LOFT Cinema Club shows films twice a month.
